Day 7: Walking up a (steep) hill was our daily exercise!

Today a fight practically broke out in our communications class. People just get into it a lot. Also, some people just want to blurt out their opinions while others are talking. It's whatev, I guess.

ANYWAY! Today we went to the top of Cerro Ancon (Ancon Hill, for the English speakers). It was kind of exhausting for me (and my knee). The weirdest thing is there were 2 paths: one with stairs (the "shortcut way", but not very fun because the steps were very steep!), and one that just curved around the whole mountain (where taxi drivers took people up and down--very nice for people with major physical disabilities). I walked up the shortcut way, thought I did stop a lot but Mary, Amy, and our coordinator Berta kind of stayed back with me. I got close to the top where there is a little post set up, and didn't want to go any farther, but "midnight" Mike told me it was only a city block (of steep walking) to the top. I told him I wouldn't go unless he carried me! He did say he would walk with me, though, so I went up there. I'm SO GLAD! The view of the city from other parts of the hill is pretty, but from the top of the hill it is GORGEOUS!

After we got down, I stopped at a replica of an old village and bought some presents for some people (yay!) and an orange Crush. It was DELICIOUS after walking down that hill!!! I had some water too, don't worry.

Also, while taking a break from my homework, I decided to go down to the front desk to ask for some things (we were out of TP and our room phone wasn't working well). I started to talk in English, and the woman behind the desk said, in Spanish, "No, you have to practice your Spanish!" So, I asked her my questions in Spanish and she answered them. Then she complimented me on my Spanish and I thanked her. I'm so proud of myself! :D Off to finish the write up for my class discussion, then bed!

Apparently tomorrow, we're having sports day as our after-class activity (which I will be playing in the pool all afternoon), and then our student activities coordinator Luciley got us hooked up to get in (free for girls, 80% discount for guys!) to an awesome dance club, so we get to party up our first full week of class tomorrow night!
