Day 6: "The lunch special includes a free taxi back to your hotel."
I'm freaking tired. I wish I could start on these blogs around 11 (or earlier), but something else is always going on--homework, or TV, or more homework, or letting my roommates use my laptop (cause the hotel's computer lab computers kinda suck), or watching a maintenance dude crack open a coconut...Yes, I experienced all of these things today. Onto the title of this entry, a couple of professors and a few students went to a sweet Indian restaurant today for lunch. At the end of lunch, our waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We said no, and then she asked if we needed a ride anywhere. We politely declined until she said it was free!!! We were shocked, BUT at the same time, the little van dealie we rode in had some sweet signage on it, so we're helping them advertise a little too.
And, YES, our favorite maintenance man Raul seriously came up to our room with a machete to open up a coconut for us, at our request. It was SWEET! I was sad that we didn't get any pictures (Cyndi was gone while he was here, and suggested it about 5 minutes after Raul had left), so we might get him to do it again... :D
I got my homework done today (yay) and slept all afternoon (... sort of yay!). I'm still tired today though. And, I STILL don't know how to get back to the hotel from school, but I did find an easier way to get to school. It's not really a shortcut, and it may possibly be longer, but since the building is sort of on a hill, the 'easier way' decreases the sharpness of the incline.
Also, reading and writing are boring. I need some assignments with graphs and equations!!!
Freezing a water bottle the night before is a good idea too... when I am sweating like crazy at school, a good portion of the ice has melted in the heat (body heat and sun heat) from the walk to school.
I'm pretty sure tomorrow is going to be our first rainy school day (boo). We're supposed to go on some hiking thing, so going after it rains is sure to be buckets of fun (like Mr. Bucket himself)!!!
