Day 27: Finals time!
I gave a presentation today in my ML class about the legend of the Black Christ of Portobelo, in Spanish. I was a little scared, and I feel like I flubbed a little bit (there were some dates in there, and I'm bad with numbers higher than 300; it gets complex) but I got a lot of compliments afterward so I don't feel quite so bad after the fact. I was supposed to give another presentation today in my COMM class, but I spent so much time freaking out about the first presentation that I didn't have much prepared. I talked to my professors and they said I could go tomorrow. I'd rather take some late points and give a GOOD presentation than do it on time and have a crap presentation. I'm finishing up my last two major papers tonight, and tomorrow we're taking our final for the ML class (the COMM class just has the final presentation). I'll be done with school tomorrow, it's our last day of classes! How awesome!!! :D There's a couple extra papers the grad students have to do for COMM, and we have to turn in a Panama video/Power Point about 2 weeks after we get back, but I can worry about that next week!After class tomorrow I am going shopping for the most awesome shoes ever, a couple 'party' dress shirts, and some clothes for children at an orphanage who we are visiting Thursday. I have 4 kids who are 6, 5, 2, and 1. The 5-year-old is a boy, the rest are girls. I am SO EXCITED because I love small children! I know that they are going to need clothes, but I want to buy the girls cute hair things too! I don't know what cute little thing I could buy for the boy besides a little toy, and the program director said if we were to get toys we should donate them to the orphanage... Don't tell on me, though. :) We got $20 for the 4 kids (which doesn't sound like a lot, but it will go a long way in this country), but we are allowed to spend over if we want to. I think I'll be okay as long as I have the fee I need to get back into the country ($20 or $25, I forgot).
I will be sleeping in my hotel room for 4 more days. We are all starting to get anxious to go back to the states, but I think we will all make it. I miss Skylah, and Bridget, and James, and all of Palatka and its subchapters, and my crazy family!
