One MAJOR headache gone!
So, I was upset that the Power Icon in the start menu for Vista doesn't shut the computer down, but puts the computer into SLEEP MODE. Those Microsoft jerks. The other day, Sheryll was using my laptop, and I told her to shut it down. Well, she didn't really know how to navigate Windows (because she is used to her Mac), so she went to the Start menu, made a confused face, and said, "I don't know how to shut it down..." and then clicked the Power Icon, since it's pretty much UNIVERSAL for power. Good thing I checked my computer 45 seconds later, or else I wouldn't have brought it back up so I could shut it down for real.
I've been trying to figure out how to change it for the past couple weeks, and finally today I did a Google search. Look at what I found! :D
You can thank me later. Thank VistaWired now. :)
EDIT: The Start Menu icon and background color change when you change what the button does! (Cool!!!) Also, if you're on a laptop, make sure you change it for EACH power mode and not just one.

Sleep mode is amazing for a Desktop. I can see how it would be annoying for a Laptop, but on a Desktop I certainly know why Sleep mode is the default... If you are leaving it plugged in all the time you might as well get the benefit of "instant on" plus "just how you left it". Then if a power outage happens for some reason you get the hibernation state so you still get "just how you left it" with about an average boot time.
Damn, now I'm going to shed a tear for my lost desktop again...
