Why is it...

...that boys protect their intimate feelings so much? What's wrong with showing deep emotions every once in a while, whether it's excitement or despair? Most have no problem showing pride, anger, and jealousy. Those emotions are easy.

Because emotion is, in most cases (to us), a weakness. Its a fissure in our wall of manliness, something we're very afraid of someone drilling into.

Its kind of like being a gold mine. Do /you/ want someone blowing you up to steal your gold?

While not a perfect comparison, since I don't treasure my emotions like gold, I just protect them like it.

Erm. In a MUCH simpler answer.... We boys are silly. Love us.
