Lady Soul
Aretha Franklin roxxorz my soxxorz. If I were wearing boxxorz today, she'd roxxor those too. I'm writing a paper for my History of Rock 'n' Roll class instead of sleeping, and found out that Bobby Womack (==my cousin in some weird "by marriage" way) performed on her Lady Soul album! In other reasons why I should get an A in History of Rock 'n' Roll, my dad told me that my grandpa (Leonard "Baby Doo" Caston) met Willie Dixon when he was still a boxer and helped convert him to music. :D That's like proving I'm a direct descendant of Spartacus or something! So, this weekend DJ and Allison finally got married! I helped throw Allison's bachelorette party, tried to keep her sane all Friday and half of Saturday, gave out bulletins at the door, and sang at their wedding ("The Prayer" as performed by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church) with my friend Nick. The wedding was more like déjà-vu, because I feel like they were already married. I guess I have always regarded them as the super-couple, since they are strong as individuals, and practically become unstoppable superheroes as a duo. I hope I can find someone that compliments me that well!
After seeing my two high school friends tie the knot, Brian G. (not my brother Brian, since my family went on vaykay this week) and I drove back to Louisville (and witnessed a car accident like a mile from the house), and then I went to WSVG/MML to play poker with my crazy boyfriend (really, he was just running the poker tourney and didn't play) and a bunch of other crazy computer and video game "enthusiasts". I finished 17/45 (ALMOST to the final 2 tables!), got bullied out of a good hand that I would have sent two people packing on, and ended up being the permanent dealer at the final table since most of the standing players were half asleep. I also ran into Shelman and Mason randomly!
I decided to help Paul pack up his poker stuff after taking a bathroom break, and ended up staying (aka sorting through a bazillion pictures, and deleting objectionable materials, for them to put up on the projectors; being semi-Staff; being substitute megaphone; having my picture taken even though I tried to hide; watching Don Hertzfeldt and Daft Punk vids; watching vids of half dressed blondes shaking their hair, boobs, and butts; listening to silly kids, including Paul, yell out "HEY-OHHH!" at 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 AM, and everywhen in between; responding with "YEAH!" when a drunk guy yelled out "WHAT?" à la Little John; drinking some one's Gatorade, cause Paul said I could; meeting a boy wearing wolf ears, which LOOKED LIKE KITTY EARS to me, who I affectionately called Kitty; meeting Kitty's friend Bunny (who, *shock!* was wearing bunny ears) about 3 hours later, who directly told me that Kitty didn't like being called Kitty (even though Kitty said I could call him that a mere 3 hours before); changing Kitty's name to Wolfie, and then back to Kitty; learning that Bunny is obsessed with hentai, and also proud of his zombieporn collection; learning that both Kitty and Bunny are only 17; witnessing the birth of two wikipedia articles (Lanwar--which will most likely remain an article--and MillionManLan--which will probably be merged into the Lanwar article); unofficially authorizing Mason to punish stupid and inconsiderate people in the manner appropriately fitting the nature of their misdeed; getting RickRoll'd (Family Guy version); laughing my ass off) until about 5 AM. Then, I realized that I had a paper to write and I also needed to be at work at 4:30, and that I'd better go home and sleep for a while.
All in all, the worst week ever was followed by an awesome weekend. I also realized that I like using (or overusing) parenthesis. My punctuation poison used to be ellipses... ;-) not anymore!
