Best week ever!

That's right, VH1... I'm totally stealing your thunder. And since I credited you, I cannot be sued. HAH!

Alright... hold on to your pants kids. I will bestow upon you the knowledge of the universe if you listen closely enough. It might not make sense, but hey it'll be there!

So! Work was totally awesome. I FINALLY got Elom to start talking to me again by Friday (he got pissed off at me because he said some crazy stuff and then I told some other people and he was like "I can't trust you because you said those things" And I was like, uhhh... not like you warned me that it was personal stuff... because it wasn't). Anyway, I started off the week with one project (fixing the crane weight transfer system) and ended it with three projects and one task (which I finished Friday).

The crane weight thing is actually getting more and more interesting... Andy had the idea to try out this super sophisticated system, and if that didn't work to just send the system we have out for maintenance. The only thing was, Simone had to find out what the best system for our situation and location would be. It was very interesting, educational, and a LOT of fun!

The first new project I got was to figure out how to get a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for the lab (which basically makes sure all the steel is the right chemistry) because there's power outages kind of frequently. The computer systems in the lab sorta freak out and don't really do too well when the power goes out. Since there's two transformers (a 480V which is where the power comes from, and a step-down 220V which supplies the lab its power), one of the things I have to figure out is if it's better to get the UPS for the 480 or the 220. Another thing I had to consider is that one of the three legs puts out a weird current, so that could potentially be a problem, but not necessarily.

The second new project seemed kind of boring when I got it, but I needed something interesting to do. Basically, one of the transfer cars was wired very ... um, specially. So my job was to update the wiring diagram (in AutoCAD) from half of an existing diagram (which was not in digital format, only paper format... UGH) and half of a hand-drawn diagram (which wasn't really drawn that well in the first place--Sorry, Bill). It seemed boring to make a CAD drawing from scratch (seriously, because there's no "shape set" with electrical components at work). But, when I talked to Bill later on, he said that (1) the transfer car would be wired exactly the way I drew it (YAY!), and (2) I'd get to help wire it if I wanted to. I almost peed myself when he said the second one. I was like, HELL YEA! That’s what I live for. And I get to see a real electrical project come to life. I love work. :)

The task that I had to do was really not all that hard. Or so I though. Basically, I had to come up with a drawing that showed the dimensions of the Melt Shop. Yeah, that should be easy to find, right? Ah, no. I finally DID find the drawing with two of the three dimensions I needed, but the digital copy was across the plant. But Robin (a.k.a. Shelly, our clerk) told me the number of the guy that had the drawing, so I called him and he sent it to me! That was the easy 2/3. The hard part was finding the elevation of the cranes. I saw the paper drawings and luckily for me there was a CD that had all the drawings in that book on it. Except the CD was corrupt and basically killed the CD drive on my (work) computer--it was only temporary. After fighting with the computer for like an hour, I was like "Okay Nick... I got the dimension values, but I only have one CAD drawing and not two... hope ya don't mind!" and he was like, "It's alright."

And then there was the weekend. OH GOODNESS the weekend! So, Chris (my future new roommate) has been trying to get me to hang out with his crew for a while now. I was going to go chill with them this weekend since it's the first free Friday I had in a long time. Since I made plans with King Michael I (Mike M) which got cancelled, I had lots of free time to dork around and look cute for this crazy group. When I showed up at the party, you'd think that a freaking celebrity showed up! Everyone mauled me and instantly loved me, hah. :) I think the funniest thing I heard was, "Oh my god, Simone... you're black!" Not in a mean way... just in a "hey, all my other friends are white!" way. I just think that it didn't occur to Chris (who has an overwhelming majority of white friends for being not white) that some people get excited when they meet people who are a lot unlike them (i.e. his white friends got real excited when a black girl showed up)! Anyway, I met lots of fun, wild, crazy people; and don't worry, I wasn't the only black kid at the party... I was one of two and a half... because there was a black guy and a mixed guy there. Everyone was so much fun (except for a couple not-really-social people, but that's okay) and Chris and I ended up crashing on the couch and floor, respectively, of Joey and Belinda's living room. Maybe the clash of socialites occurred because of the cousins' (J and B) different social circles. Or maybe it was just cause. Chris took lots of fun pictures and I saved some of them on my computer, including a very adorable picture of Joey and his friend Jeremy passed out on the stairs. I got up around 9AM on Saturday to go potty, and when I came out of the bathroom Chris had gotten up and was like, "Ya ready to go?" I had no problems with tiptoeing out so early.

I got back and my knee was killing me so I tried to go to sleep but it didn't really happen... I just took a series of short naps, between which my parents told me their plan of dropping my car off. I was excited to get my car... but I was more excited about hanging out with Chris' friend Scooter at the club! Scooter is the most adorable boy on the face of the planet, and yet another affirmation that I need a country boy (which I will post about later). He is the most country person I've met in a while, and he's lots of fun! Anyway, Saturday was the last day of my childhood (complete with playing Pump with Steve--not that I'll stop DDRing; it's good exercise!--and eating lunch with him and Joel), and the first jump into wild crazy adulthood... especially since the club we went to was Connections, Louisville's "token" gay club... complete with naughtiness in the corners and drag shows! I tried to convince the bouncers to let me in as a 21-year-old since my birthday's Thursday, buuut, no. Oh well, at least I tried. Anyway, I saw my first (and second) drag show and realized that I love the club scene ‘cause I love to dance! I hung out with some people from the party (Kara and Tony) the day before, met some more people, and met my second and third transsexual people--one who is going to undergo a sex change operation and one who cross dresses. Anyway, I clubbed from around midnight to 4 AM, and then Denny’s (what else!!!) from 4 to 6AM. Scooter promised to take me out to all the good places in Louisville this upcoming weekend, so I'm excited about that! I came home and checked my email, and I went to bed around 7 AM. Then Chris woke me up around 11 AM to make me tell the story of the club! I went back to bed around 11.30. I woke up just before 3 again, freaked out and cried for a while, and didn't feel well anyway so went back to bed.

I think I was in a weird mood because my life is changing (which is good and interesting and scary and fun), and maybe cause I'm falling for someone... or a couple of some ones. I think I just needed to release some negative energy. So, that is my life in a nutshell; just before I fully step into adulthood. And, just like Spongebob... I'M READY!!! :D
